Annelise and Ashley were concerned about finding a wedding officiant for their Los Angeles LGBTQ wedding. It’s not an uncommon worry from my LGBTQ+ couples.

But Annelise told me that as soon as she checked out my Instagram filled with laughing couples of all orientations, ethnicities, and walks of life, she knew that I was the right person to celebrate and solemnize her marriage to Ashley.

Here’s a snippet of what I wrote from their love story:

Early into their relationship, they took a trup to Zion National Park. Both of them told me how pivotal that trip was for them. Annelise had never been camping before and Ashley forgot to pack like half of the food they needed. Annelise told me how impressed she was that Ashley put up with her music ADD for the 6-hour drive there and Ashley said that despite her typical car-sickness, she had never had so much fun on a long car ride before. There were literal thunderstorms with rain and lightning, but they managed to hike and make it all the way to Angel’s Landing. There, at the peak of that beautiful, wild rock formation is where they first said, “I love you.”

But I think their custom vows were the highlight :

I take you to be my wife, my partner in life, and my one true love. I will cherish our union and love you more each day than I did the day before. I will trust you and respect you, laugh with you and cry with you, loving you faithfully through undone chores and not admitting when you’re wrong, staying strong regardless of the obstacles we may face together. I give you my hand, my heart, and my love, from this day forward for as long as we both shall live.

They decided to add a fun unity ceremony known as Unity in Glass. The idea is that you take these colored bits of glass and pour them together. After the wedding, you then send the glass bits to a glassblower who will then blow it into a beautiful piece of glass art. Annelise and Ashley wanted to do this as a show of blending their lives together in a way that is permanent and solid.

Now, because of who I am as a Los Angeles wedding officiant, I needed to do something fun and silly with these two to celebrate their awesomeness…

Here’s what Annelise said on Yelp about working with me on their Los Angeles LGBTQ wedding:

She was perfect. She took the time to get to know us and what we wanted in our ceremony. She made the ceremony so personal. Our guests thought she had known us for a long time. She is quick to respond if any questions were to arise. But most of all, she made our ceremony “us.”
