It is such a high compliment when a wedding planner chooses me as their wedding officiant. When Sara of 9TwentyEight Events and her fiance Tony asked me to be their Temecula wedding officiant for their modern Galway Downs wedding, I was elated!
I have to start with Sara has amazing taste. She told me that she was feeling the pressure as a wedding planner to have the most amazing wedding ever, when really what she wanted was something modern and different. While she loves her work and her couples, she just wanted something that unlike any other wedding for her big day. All I could do was to nod in agreement because I feel like that is what every single one of my couples wants!
I think she got it what she wanted…
When we talked about what they wanted and why they chose to have a Galway Downs wedding. It was really clear that Sara and Tony were looking for a ceremony that honored the eight years they had already had together in which they had built a life, bought a home, and built businesses. This wedding was not going to be about a whole new life together, but a celebration of what they have already built and doubling-down on that love and those accomplishments.
They met at a bar and quickly bonded over travel, good times with their friends, and eventually added their fur-baby into the mix.
Here’s a snippet from the ceremony I wrote for them:
When I asked them when they knew this was the person for them, Sara told me it was only a few months in for her. It was so easy to be with him: they were both who they were without pretense and it all felt so natural. Anthony said there was never a single moment he just knew. Instead, it was something that just developed so that now he can’t see himself without her.
Sara and Tony opted to do a Common Cup ceremony with their favorite wines. (I mean, it is Temecula and wine is her favorite drink, so it was a natural fit.)
They really wanted their ceremony to focus on the beautiful things in their life: the love they share, the life they’ve built, and the friends they share it with. I think we can mark this as mission accomplished!
